I cannot imagine anyone more deserving of this year’s dedication than Ms. Barbara Park. Ms. Park has been teaching at Ledyard High School for nineteen years. In that time she has taught virtually every level, including AP and ECE English. Ms. Park has been responsible for preparing hundreds of Colonels for the AP exam and for life beyond our doors. No one can doubt Ms. Park’s dedication to her students and their learning.
Ms. Park is passionate about the arts, especially good writing, photography, and music. She loves being outdoors and exploring the less traveled paths and destinations. Never one to rest, Ms. Park takes on learning/travel experiences every summer to enhance what she can offer her students.
Ms. Park took over Inner Visions seven years ago and set about making it a truly dynamic expression of student work. She took what amounted to a photocopied packet of work and transformed it into a modern, digital magazine. Ms. Park oversaw the creation and design of the Inner Visions website, tirelessly fundraised to allow the magazine to be professionally printed and even created a Twitter presence for the magazine. She spent hours putting together the Inner Visions display in the showcase, giving an creative outlet that could be enjoyed by the entire school community. It is because of Ms. Park’s tireless efforts that Inner Visions has become what it is today. I am very pleased to dedicate volume XLIV to her for all of tireless efforts.
